Login returns a server error instead of validating credentials.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the local Flaskr demo at http://127.0.0.1:8011/auth/login.
  2. Enter “nonexistent_user” in “Account name”.
  3. Enter “password123” in “Password”.
  4. Select “Log In”.

Expected

“Incorrect username.” is visible.

Actual

The login request returns HTTP 500. The page shows “Sterling demo: login handler crashed”. Repeated in 3/3 fresh browser contexts.
